Daily Life and Economy

My Utopian island is where you can just chill, with friends, family and even strangers. Utopia to me is a perfect place to live. They do their jobs. We have plenty of jobs and no schools. We do not use money we barter our things, you get what you find. you get paid for the different jobs you have. if you skip work you will have to makeup those days on an off day. its worry free because if there is any crime you are sent off the island or sentenced to death. You leave the island after the age of 50. you retire at the age of 40-43. when your on free-time, you can do almost anything. There is no television, get off your lazy butt and take a walk. Once your on the island you don't leave until your kicked off. You hunt for your own food and prepare your own food. it can be your family or just by yourself. grown, and you have to hunt/gather your own food. no, there is a test when you join the island or at the age of 16 to see your rank on how you get treated. Depending on how sick you are, yes the doctor is paid. NO, i do not see the same plans.

  1. I like to just chill out, too. I think a barter system is a great way to get things that you need and there may be less theft that way. I don't think anyone should get killed for certain crimes. I love the idea of no television.

  2. Maybe there should be other ways to get food. I think this because not everyone is great at hunting, and you wouldn't want people dying of starvation on your island.

  3. A barter system is good but didn't you say that people get paid for doing their jobs? That doesn't make sense, unless they're being paid food or shelter or something like that. Also, along the lines of what Clara said, shouldn't it depend on the circumstances? If a ten-year-old kid stole bubble gum from a store, would you kill the ten-year-old? Finally, you're saying that depending on how well you do at tests, you'll be treated better or worse?
